The Met Gala has never been known for subtlety, but this year’s red carpet had a different kind of weight. With Superfine: Tailoring Black Style as its anchor and “Tailored for You” as the dress code, the night called for something sharper and more dramatic, and the beauty looks rose to the occasion.
Jordan Roth, theatre producer and regular Met Gala attendee, brought a distinctly gothic edge to the night’s beauty lineup. This year, he leaned fully into the drama with a beauty look that felt part cabaret, part couture villain. A powdered complexion, sharply contoured cheeks, and inky eye makeup set the tone, but it was the deep red lip that really stood out against the monochrome outfit he was wearing.
