Exploring the space between… In her book on which her curation of the #MetGala exhibition Superfine is based, Monica L. Miller writes “the dandy is a figure who exists in the space between masculine and feminine, homosexual and heterosexual, seeming and being,” and later “the space between repetition and difference…between the body and its materiality.
The purpose of the dandy has always been rooted in the experience of self-fashioning, an insistence “to be” both outside of time, and yet in dialogue with it; an embodied state of duality that provokes and delights in equal measure. To be a dandy is to celebrate the self as a figure of creative possibility. – Jordan Roth
